Description

In this session, we will do an in depth review of Sections 8 and 13 of the Human Rights Code. As employers and service providers, local governments face the most risk of complaints under these sections. We will review how the Tribunal interprets and applies each of these sections and will review case law involving local governments.

She conducts workplace investigations and also regularly advises clients on freedom of information and protection of privacy matters. Carolyn has represented clients in matters before the courts, as well as labour arbitrators, the Labour Relations Board, the Human Rights Tribunal, the Employment Standards Tribunal, and the Information and Privacy Commissioner. Her goal is to find solutions to labour, employment, and human rights issues that are cost-effective, avoid unnecessary litigation and conflict, and contribute to a positive workplace culture.
